The Supreme Court will today resume hearing a batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.
In the previous hearing, a Bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna scrutinised key provisions of the legislation, including the derecognition of “established” waqf-by-user category of properties, the inclusion of non-Muslims in waqf administrative bodies and the power granted to the state to change the status of disputed waqf land.
