Over 1,300 Practitioners Set Champions Book of World Record with Longest Mass Performance of Yozen Silambam Kata in Chennai

Chennai, June 20, 2026: In a spectacular celebration of India's rich martial arts heritage, more than 1,300 practitioners of ZENSKAR Healing Martial Arts and Yozen Silambam, under the banner of Mahayogam–Mahamaharishi Foundation, successfully created a world record for the Longest Mass Performance of Yozen Silambam Kata at Rajarathinam Stadium, Egmore, Chennai.

The record attempt, held from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM, brought together participants from diverse age groups, including children, students, youth, adults, and senior citizens. Male and female practitioners performed the synchronized Yozen Naalaam Thisai Semadu Silambam Kata continuously for one hour, showcasing remarkable discipline, coordination, unity, and cultural pride.

The unique event aimed to preserve and promote the traditional Indian martial art of Silambam while encouraging physical fitness, health awareness, self-discipline, and community participation. Organizers highlighted the numerous benefits of Silambam, including improved body-mind coordination, balance, concentration, mental alertness, self-control, and overall well-being. According to traditional Siddha principles, the practice supports the harmonious functioning of Vatha, Pitha, and Kapha while promoting the flow of vital energy through the body's nadis.

The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries. The Chief Guests included Hon'ble Justice D. Bharatha Chakravarthy of the Madras High Court, Smt. B. Vijaya Kumari, IPS, Dr. K.P. Dayanidhi Rishi, Executive Director of Mahayogam–Mahamaharishi Foundation, Shri A.V. Meiyappan, Chairman of AVM Labs Pvt. Ltd., Smt. S. Lakshmi, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing, Silambam Dr. Sudhakaran, Founder President of the World Silambam Sports Association, and Kalaimamani Dr. Seyon (Murugan), Former Director of All India Radio, Chennai.

The event also witnessed the presence of Guests of Honour Dr. Pattabhi Ram Turlapati and Dr. Santhi Devi, Founders and Directors of Champions Book of World Records and Score More Foundation.

Following a thorough verification process, the performance was officially recognized as a world record under the category of Largest Gathering of Participants Performing Silambam Simultaneously / Longest Continuous Silambam Performance by Participants from Various Age Groups.

Dr. Pattabhi Ram Turlapati and Dr. Santhi Devi formally presented the World Record Certification to the organizers amid loud applause from participants and spectators.

The achievement stands as a testament to the growing popularity of Silambam and the dedication of the Mahayogam–Mahamaharishi Foundation towards preserving India's traditional martial arts heritage for future generations.
