Vikram Doraiswami assumes the charge of India’s High Commissioner to UK

Veteran diplomat Vikram K Doraiswamy was on Tuesday appointed as India's new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, seen as an important posting given the growing strategic ties between the two countries.

A 1992 batch Indian Foreign Service officer currently serving as Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh.

"He is likely to take up the assignment soon," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

During Doraiswamy's tenure in Dhaka, which began in October 2020, overall relations between India and Bangladesh have expanded greatly.

High Commissioner to UK Gayatri Issar Kumar retired on June 30.
