The Biometric Boarding System, launched by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to provide better services to passengers, has included the international airport at Gannavaram in the first phase of the Digi Yatra.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation General (Retd) VK Singh replied to YSRCP MP V Vijayasai that the program will be launched at Kolkata, Varanasi, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi as well as Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad by March 2023. Reddy in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
“Implementation of infrastructure for DG Yatra at Vijayawada airport is complete. We will implement DG Yatra at various airports in a phased manner," said the minister. Digi Yatra is designed to ensure contactless and seamless processing of passengers based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT).
The project envisages that a passenger can pass through various checkpoints at the airport through paperless and contactless processing, using facial features to establish identity.
