TTD resumes traditional Akhanda Harinama Sankeertanam after two years

Akhanda Harinama sankirtanam, traditional non-stop recitations and bhajans resumed here on Monday after a gap of two years amid spiritual fervor.

TTD Executive Office (EO) AV Dharma Reddy lit the Jyothi and started the sankirtana amidst the chanting of Govinda Govinda by the devotees in the Harinama sankirtana premises near the old Annadanam building.

SVBC telecast the inaugural bhajan performed by Sri Rajarajeshwari Mahila Bhajan Mandali led by T Sridevi from Krishna district Aminapuram, followed by five more bhajan groups from Chittoor, Nellore (A), Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Warangal (TS) the day.

Speaking on the occasion, EO said that in 2007, TTD started Akhanda Harinama Sankirtana, in which folk artistes from AP, TS, TNS and other states participated and presented Sankirtana in folk style.

He said that TTD had stopped Sankirtana for two years due to Covid restrictions. Dozens of teams with 15 members in each team present kirtans in folk style throughout the year.

EO informed that there are 7,500 teams with around 1.30 lakh registered artistes who will get their performance through computerized allotment system.

He said that each troupe would perform for two hours each day in different shifts and 12 troupes would present sankirtans every day. Accommodation, travel allowance and other facilities are provided to these artists.

Vijayasaradhi, Program Officer of all projects, Shanmukh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer SVBC, Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP) Nonstop Harinama Sankeertanam organizers and Program Assistant Kokila were present.
