Naveen Patnaik, Odisha Chief Minister and Andhra Pradesh Governor Bishwabhushan Harichandan on Thursday attended a function to pay homage to the idol at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Bhubaneswar. Visakha Sharda Peetham Sri Swaroopanandendra Saraswati Swamy was also present on the occasion.
The Maha Samprokshanam was held in auspicious glory in the auspicious Gemini Lagnam which takes place between 8:50 am and 9:05 am. The plaque was unveiled by Visakha Sharda Peetham chairperson Patnaik, Harichandan and TTD chairman YV Subbareddy.
The rituals of Punyahavachanam, Agni Pranayanam, Kumbha worship, Nivedana, Homam and Maha Poornahuti were performed. Brahmaghosa, Veda Sattumora, Archaka Bahumanamera, Dwajarohana were conducted from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
Between 3 and 4:30 pm, Srinivasa Kalyanam followed by a procession of Utsava idols took place. After Nitya Kainkaryams in the evening, Ekantha Seva was scheduled to be held at night.
In his inaugural address on the occasion, Pontiff lauded TTD for its massive campaign for the preservation and propagation of Hindu Dharma across the country through the preservation of Sri Venkateswara temples, Gowda and the preservation of the Vedas. Governor Harichandan said that the newly constructed Srivari Temple in Bhubaneswar was a gracious blessing of Venkateswara Swamy to the people of Odisha. "It helps devotees who are unable to make the pilgrimage to Tirumala due to their age, health, financial or other reasons," he said.
