T Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has been approached by Telangana govt to restrain Andhra Pradesh from executing the pumped-storage hydro electric project at Pinnapuram village of Panyam mandal in Kurnool district, stating that it is being taken up with Krishna water outside the basin and without appraisal or approval by the bodies concerned.
The power project is based on the Krishna Waters Draw and is contrary to Sections 84 and 85 of the AP Reorganization Act, 2014, as any such project may be initiated or undertaken only with the prior approval of the Apex Council, Telangana Irrigation. "KRMB has requested to suspend all new projects and expansion of existing projects / canals without the approval / approval of KRMB / Apex Council," Muralidhar wrote. He also asked for details of all the pumping storage schemes in AP.
