Following the protest on Wednesday by workers of the Telugu Film industry demanding better wages, Cinematography Minister T Srinivas Yadav directed the stakeholders involved to resolve the issues immediately and emphasized that they should not wait for the State government to intervene.
The film workers have been agitating for the past few days demanding better wages and abstained from work on Wednesday. Responding to the ongoing strike in the film industry, Talasani asked the heads of Film Chamber and Producers' Council Association to resolve the problems in a couple of days and said that they should not bring a situation for the involvement of the State government.
He said the workers were given a commitment about the agreement but there has been a six months delay. “Generally, the agreements are done with mutual understanding of workers, members of the Telugu Film Chamber and members of the Producers Council. I have also spoken to the Department of Labor regarding the issue,” the Minister said.
Meanwhile, the cinema workers have at least 10 different associations and unions and all of them joined the strike. Film shooting in and around Hyderabad was affected on Wednesday as more than 20,000 Telugu cine workers began a protest demanding a hike in wages.
I stress the need for these bodies to sit together with the workers of 24 crafts and resolve the issue in a couple of days, failing which the situation may go out of hand,” said Talasani.
More than 20,000 Telugu film workers have decided to go on indefinite strike demanding better wages. The strike will have an impact on several films under production, including Chiranjeevi's Voltaire Virayya, Bhola Shankar, Prabhas' Salar and RC15. Minister Talsani Srinivas Yadav said he had also spoken to Dr E Gangadhar, Joint Commissioner, and Ministry of Labor, to work with the people of the industry. .
