Students pour out woes before Governor of TS

It seems that students of various universities across the state are facing problems like non-receipt of stipend, poor food in the mess, lack of proper facilities in the hostels, infestation of rats in the hostel rooms and roaming pigs in the campus.

The issue came to light when student representatives of the universities met with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan in an interactive session held at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

Students of IIIT Basara, Telangana University, Osmania University, Kakatiya University, National Institute of Technology, Warangal expressed their grievances and submitted memorandums seeking her intervention.

Students are the pillars of Telangana state. It is definitely the responsibility of the government to fulfill their basic needs and provide quality education.

Food and accommodation are basic requirements for students to pursue their education so that they can get good job opportunities or some may like to become entrepreneurs. She said that they should also be given vocational training for this.

She said that the government will take notice of the problems they are facing and will visit the universities herself soon.

Later, Mallesh, the LLB final year students of Usamania University told the media that we are facing a shortage of lecturers. There are about 80 percent vacancies.

Surya Reddy, a student of IIIT Basara, said that we should study to make our dreams come true. For all these reasons, we need basic facilities so that we can focus on our studies.

The students of IIIT Basara have been protesting for a long time but there is no solution in sight. C Gajendra LLB final year students of Telangana University, Nizamabad said, “Our University lacks basic facilities. It is located in a secluded area. In case of non-availability of medical facilities, there is no auditorium to conduct any programme.

A research scholar from Kakatiya University said that they have not received stipend for a long time and are facing many difficulties. In addition to this, the minimum facilities are also lacking. They hoped that the governor would take steps to solve their problems.
