South Central Railway bags 5 performance efficiency shields

In an unprecedented way, South Central Railway bagged five all India performance efficiency shields, the highest among all zones across Indian Railways at 67th Railway Week awards function held at Railway Auditorium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. It has been the second consecutive year for South Central Railway (SCR) , including security shield, comprehensive healthcare shield (jointly with West Central Railway), civil engineering shield (jointly with Western and Central Railways), stores shield (jointly with Western Railways) and civil engineering construction shield (jointly with North Western Railways).

Speaking on the occasion Vaishnav stressed on the transformation of Indian Railways for a better future, which will help the Indian economy reach new heights. The Minister suggested that the technology should be rapidly absorbed to upgrade rolling stock, construction works, security and cyber security.

SCR General Manager (In-Charge), Arun Kumar Jain, lauded and commended the team of officers and staff for their dedication in making the Zone achieves the best results in all zones of Indian Railways. He is pleased to have achieved five Performance Shields in various disciplines.

Emphasizing the importance of investment in railway development, he said the government has been working to increase investment in railways since 2014, which has reached Rs 1, 37,000 crore this year. He also said that the Ministry of Railways has set up a new directorate under the Railway Board to give priority to projects under the Prime Minister's Gati Shakti Scheme.
