India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the G7 Summit of 2022 that is being held at Schloss Elmau, Germany.

The Prime Minister said that India’s energy plans are aimed at ensuring energy justice and that it will be safe while fully adhering to the country’s global commitments for sustainable goals. He said India is one of the most active countries in developing renewable energy sources.

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Germany to attend the G7 Summit. He was received by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz upon his arrival at Schloss Elmau, the picturesque venue of the summit in southern Germany.

PM Modi said that we hope rich countries of G7 will support India’s efforts. A huge market for clean energy technologies is emerging in India.

The global economic downturn, such as Russia's invasion of Ukraine and rising energy and food prices, has dominated this year's summit of leaders from Germany, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Japan and Britain.

"India is well on its way to COP21's commitment to increase power generation from renewable energy sources to 175 gig watts by 2022," Modi said at the India Energy Forum via IHS CeraWeek.

“Self-reliant India will also be a force factor for the global economy. Energy security is at the core of our efforts ... with a small carbon footprint, our energy sector will be growth-focused, industry-friendly and environmentally conscious,” he added.
