Labor Ministers Conference to meet in Tirupati today

A two-day national conference of labor ministers of all states and Union Territories will begin at the Taj Hotel in Tirupati on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the conference virtually at 4.30 pm on Thursday.
The conference is being organized to discuss various important labor related issues and to create more coordination between the Central and State Governments in formulating policies related to the welfare of workers.
The conference will have four thematic sessions on integration of e-shram portal for on-boarding social security schemes to universalize social protection, integration with Swastya Se Samriddhi and PMJAY to improve medical care through ESI hospitals run by state governments.
Formulation of rules under the four labor codes and methods for their implementation; Vision Shramev Jayate @ 2047 focuses on fair and equitable conditions of work, social protection for all workers including gig and platform workers, gender equality at work are among other items on the agenda.
Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav will preside over the two-day conference. AP Labor Minister Gummanuru Jayaram along with other labor ministers will participate in this conference.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements to organize the first national level conference after the formation of the new district. Police have tightened security as many VVIPs and high officials from central and states are participating.
Meanwhile, the Left parties and their affiliated trade unions have demanded the cancellation of the meeting as they will discuss anti-labor policies and finalize the roadmap for implementation of the four labor codes. They are gearing up to take out protest programs in the city against the conference.
