Kakani appreciates NABARD's role in rural development

Agriculture and Cooperation Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy lauded the role of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for its active role in promoting rural prosperity with focus on credit planning, monitoring and its development and promotion programmes.
He participated in the 41st Foundation Day celebrations of NABARD here on Monday.
He identified the various challenges facing the agriculture sector and threw light on the roadmap to achieve sustainable growth in farm income and reduce the vulnerability of farmers.
He reminded that NABARD had released a loan facility of Rs.1600 crores to AP Civil Supplies Corporation on the occasion of this foundation day.
A snapshot of NABARD's performance in Andhra Pradesh during the financial year 2021-22, NABARD footprints in two districts of YSR and Vizianagaram districts were released on the occasion.
Co-operative Commissioner and Registrar of Co-operative Societies A Babu said that NABARD is making its footprints in many related areas besides refinance and supervision of rural and co-operative banks.
APCOB's person-in-charge Jhansi Rani expressed her gratitude to NABARD for providing refinance and support to APCOB and DCCB for institutional development of cooperative sector in the state.
SBI GM Om Narayan Sharma said that besides the supervisory function, NABARD plays a key role in institutional development and policy formulation in consultation with governments and other stakeholders.
MR Gopal, Chief General Manager, AP Regional Office of NABARD highlighted that NABARD has been fulfilling its commitment to serve rural India and for agriculture and rural prosperity for four decades and has evolved into a learning and knowledge based organization.
In NABARD Andhra Pradesh, under the Mana Badi Nadu Today scheme, construction of additional classrooms in 1553 government high schools, construction of three medical colleges-cum-hospitals, construction of Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Project has been allocated Rs. 2766 provided financial assistance. crore, the share capital contribution of APCOB and nine DCCBs to the State Government is Rs. 295 crores has been distributed.
