Janasena party leader K. Vinod Kumar Reddy alleged that the government cheated the contract lecturers by paying only Rs. 35,000 instead of Rs. 58,000 per month.
He said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy promised to regularize their services during the 2019 election campaign, but unfortunately the CM's promise was ignored.
The CM promised to fix a minimum time frame for them if regularization is not possible. He stated that they should be paid Rs.58, 000 per month as per UGC norms.
While the lives of 2,000 lecturers are in trouble due to GO 110, their colleagues in the neighboring state of Telangana are getting Rs. Vinod said that they are getting 80 thousand. The JSP leader said that there is anti-incumbency everywhere in the city and people are angry with the government.
During the padayatra, the CM visited many parts of the state and informed about the status of the lecturers. He recalled the comments made by Telangana State Minister KT Rama Rao on the plight of contract lecturers in AP.
He asked the government how they can teach students creatively and prepare research papers when the salaries of the lecturers are not enough. He said that if the staff is not given good wages, the students will not get quality education. He said that Janasena always raises the issues of contract lecturers.
