A sudden hailstorm in Delhi on Wednesday evening disrupted flight operations, forcing an IndiGo flight carrying 220 passengers to make an emergency landing in Srinagar. Delhi on Wednesday experienced winds reaching up to 80 km/h, quickly followed by intense rain and a thunderstorm. While the much-awaited rain brought relief from the ongoing heat, it also caused power outages and traffic disruptions across several areas.
According to officials, the flight was operating from Delhi to Srinagar which encountered turbulence mid-air due to severe weather conditions. The pilot reported the emergency to Srinagar Air Traffic Control (ATC), and the flight landed safely at 6:30 PM.
