Medical Health Minister Harish Rao on Tuesday called for blood donation. He urged the people's representatives to take the lead in the management of blood donation camps. The Minister and representatives of the people visited the blood donation camp set up at Gandhi Hospital to mark the World Blood Donor Day.

There is a demand for 4 lakh units of blood annually in Telangana. However, blood banks across the state are only able to procure 3.7 lakh units.

Harish Rao said during a visit to the mega blood bank set up at Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday that the shortage of blood should be addressed and that charities and charities here should play a key role. Along with Harish Rao, Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar also decided to volunteer and donate blood at this mega blood donation camp.

The minister lauded the people's representatives for repeatedly donating blood. Lakshma Reddy has been donating blood on the occasion of his birthday for the last 18 years. He donated 2,600 units on his birthday during Covid last year.

P Sudarshan Reddy donated over 7,650 units at the camps. Marri Janardhan Reddy and Challa Dharma Reddy are playing key roles in blood donation. Rao said he also donated blood on the occasion of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao's birthday.
