The state government has issued an order on the implementation of the "Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena" scheme to provide financial assistance to students to pursue higher education abroad, complete professional and graduate courses.
Revamping the entire system followed by the previous government, the government has decided to introduce a scheme under "Navaratnalu" to focus on quality education in foreign educational institutions.
Notification is issued between September-December and January-May every year. A committee headed by the Chief Secretary of the State Government will look into the selection process.
This scheme will henceforth be known as "Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena". Financial aid is granted only to eligible students who have secured admissions in any of the top 200 universities as per the latest QS World University Rankings.
Selected candidates who get admission in top 100 institutions/universities are eligible for 100% financial assistance in tuition fees. If selected among the next 100 institutes/universities (ie institutes/universities ranked 101 to 200), the selected student is eligible for financial assistance of 50% of the tuition fee.
The scholarship will be paid into their listed bank account in four equal installments in case of PG courses to the students who have been granted the scholarship. Subject to admission to the course and candidates selected by the selection committee, grant procedures specifying the total amount eligible for the course will be granted by grant to the individual.
Candidates can avail the visa approval process from the concerned embassy. A one-way economy class ticket (low cost tickets) for the shortest route will be paid after producing valid visa and admission details.
All visa fees will be refunded to the student upon production of a valid visa and visa fee payment receipts. After release of 4th installment, utilization certificate will be obtained from the student with approval of concerned university authorities for record purpose under the scheme.
