Expedite drinking water schemes, officials told

NTR District Collector S Dilli Rao has directed Rural Water Supply & Sanitation (RWS&S) officials to speed up drinking water supply schemes in Nandigama assembly constituency.
He said that the authorities should take steps to start the works which have not been started till now. On Tuesday, Collector Dilli Rao held a review meeting with RWS&S officials along with Nandigama MLA Dr. Monditoka Jagan Mohan Rao and inquired about the progress of the ongoing works.
On this occasion, MLA Jagan Mohan brought the problem of drinking water in his constituency to the attention of the collector.
It was explained to the Collector that under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, more than 195 protected fresh water schemes have been sanctioned with a cost of Rs.25.18 crores, but some works have not started till now.
He asked the Collector to take steps to start the work and complete it as soon as possible.
Later, the Collector said that out of 91 projects with an estimated value of less than Rs.5 lakh, about 28 works have been completed.
He said that drinking water works in Paritala, G Madhavaram, Jujjuru, Ponnavaram, V Annavaram and Vellanki have been handed over to contractors.
He said that these works will be started soon. RSW & S Superintending Engineer (SE) DV Ramana, Executive Engineer DRL Prasad, Deputy Executive Engineer Ravikumar and other officials were present.
