Election Commission of India asks political parties for the disclosure of financial promises

The Election Commission of India's (EC) asked all the registered political parties to disclose the financial consequences of promises in their manifestos is not linked to the recent debate on freebies, but aims to improve implementation of existing guidelines, a top EC official said on Wednesday.
