Dr. Poduri Sreenivas Rao, a name synonymous with creativity and excellence, stands as one of India’s most multifaceted personalities—an accomplished poet, artist, calligrapher, and record-holding genius. Born on November 1, 1949, in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Poduri’s life is a testament to the limitless potential of human imagination and perseverance.

After an illustrious career as Chief Manager at Andhra Bank, Dr. Poduri has spent his post-retirement years redefining the boundaries of art and literature. His achievements span across multiple disciplines—poetry, painting, singing, reverse writing, philately, First day cover and auto graph collection and community service—earning him both national and international acclaim.

 

A Master of Reverse Writing and Artistic Brilliance:

Dr. Poduri is celebrated for his unparalleled command over reverse writing, a rare art that he has elevated to global recognition. Among his remarkable feats are writing the Indian National Anthem in Telugu in reverse within just three and a half minutes, and completing 100 poems from "Vemana Shatakam" in under four hours.

He has performed such unique achievements around the world, including writing “Vandemataram” in three languages—Hindi, English, and Telugu—backwards in Thailand, making him the first Indian to achieve this feat abroad.

To date, Dr. Poduri has set 813 world records and holds over 500 national and international honors from 48 organizations, ranking as the FIRST WORLD RECORD HOLDER  in India.

 

Poet, Author, and Cultural Contributor:

An established poet, Dr. Rao has penned over 1,000 poems and published three acclaimed poetry collections — Sri Sumalu, Sri Saugandhalu, and Sri Charanalu. Around 15 of his short stories have been published in leading Telugu magazines and four stories won prizes in leading Telugu magazines reflecting his deep insight into human emotions and social themes.

His contributions to literature have been recognized with multiple honors, including an Honorary Doctorate from National Deemed University , affiliated to University of Berkeley, California and a D.Litt from the London University of Arts & Culture, marking 50 years of excellence in creative writing.

 

An Artist with a Vision:

In addition to his literary achievements, Dr. Rao is a distinguished visual artist, known for his pencil and watercolor portraits. He has showcased his works in 22 art exhibitions, including solo shows, and has drawn portraits of over 400 eminent personalities. His foray into reverse calligraphy and nail art has further cemented his reputation as a visionary in modern art.

 

A Passionate Collector and Record Holder:

Dr. Rao’s passion for collection is equally impressive. His philately collection boasts over 11,000 stamps from 187 countries, more than 1000 First Day Covers (FDCs) and more than 300 celebrity autographs—a treasure trove of cultural history. His meticulously curated collection has earned him accolades from philatelic and cultural bodies worldwide.

Dr. Rao’s outstanding contributions have brought him over 500 awards globally, including:

  • Golden Star Award from I Star London Limited UK .

  • Asia’s Top Talent Award from Score More Foundation International

  • Honorary Doctorate from a National Deemed University affiliated with the University of Berkeley, California

  • D.Litt from London University of Arts & Culture

  • Thailand’s Top Excellence Award at Bangkok, Thailand

  • The prestigious title “Kala Seva Ratna”, conferred by Dr. C. Narayana Reddy in 2005

His works have been featured on prominent media platforms like ETV, Metro TV, Suman TV, The Hindu, and Namaste Telangana, highlighting his enduring influence across creative and cultural domains. He was also featured on cover page -Mana Jyothi ( a monthly magazine from Vijayawada) with 48 colour photos on inner cover, third cover page and fourth page .Also an article of 6 pages was published in Mana Jyothi Magazine. He was also featured on the cover page of Score More Magazine from Score More Foundation and 3 pages in Score More News Media Magazine, an international having circulation in 10 countries. His Record achievements were published in High Range Book of World Records 3 times including latest one 2025 edition, Champions Book of World Records, Kalam Book of World Records, Royal Success International Book of Records, India Star Book of Records.

 

Community Involvement and Personal Life:

Beyond art and literature, Dr. Rao has remained deeply involved in community service, holding long-term roles in the Lions Club and Walkers International Club. He currently serves as the Honorary Advisor to the Sri Kamakshi Brahmin Society in Nizampet and the Vice President of the Bhagyanagar Bankers Group.

Residing in Hyderabad with his family, Dr. Rao continues to inspire generations through his commitment to creativity, service, and human values.
