Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led grand coalition government won the floor test to prove the 'Mahagatbandhan' coalition government's majority in the state assembly, as the opposition BJP staged a walkout during his speech.

A floor test was held in the Bihar Legislative Assembly today to prove the Kumar-led government's majority.

BJP legislators walked out of the Bihar Assembly as Kumar lashed out at the Centre. In 2017, when I demanded central status for Patna University, no one paid attention. Now you (central government) will do the same to promote your work, Bihar CM said in the assembly.

Notably, Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Kumar Sinha today resigned as Speaker of the Bihar Assembly ahead of the floor test to prove the majority of the Kumar-led 'Mahagatbandhan' coalition government.

JD (U) Narendra Narayan Yadav's name was chaired by Sinha who recommended the floor test.

Sinha resigned after ruling coalition MLAs moved a no-confidence motion against Sinha.

Sinha had earlier said that the motion notice received at the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat was unclear and did not follow the rules and regulations.

"I want to tell you that your no-confidence motion is ambiguous. Eight out of nine letters did not come as per the rules," Sinha said.
