AP Mahila Commission launches up legal advice center

The Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission has set up a special legal advisory center to provide legal assistance to women at risk. A free legal advice help desk was set up in collaboration with the National Commission for Women.

Legal counselors from the Department of Women's Welfare and the Legal Cell Services Authority provide the necessary legal assistance to women. During a meeting held at the AP Women's Commission office on Thursday, the members of the Commission reviewed the quarterly activities conducted by the Commission as part of the empowerment program.

Speaking on the occasion, Vasireddy Padma, Chairperson, Women's Commission, said that the Commission is responding to complaints received through Sabala WhatsApp number across the state. He warned that strict action would be taken against women for rape, domestic violence, harassment in the workplace and cyber crimes.

She said more girls would be selected as campus cops from educational institutions for the safety of women.
