Newborns and children under the age of 18 will soon get an Aayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) or health number, which will allow parents to monitor their overall development.
According to R S Sharma, CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA), the autonomous body responsible for implementing the $ 1.43 billion public health insurance plan, health IDs, also referred to as child ABHA, also provide better access to preventive health care services for children. Ayushman-Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
Aayushman Bharat Digital Mission, a flagship scheme under the NHA, is currently developing the "creation mechanisms" of the ABHA number for children under 18 years of age.
ABDM aims to develop the backbone needed to support the country's integrated digital health infrastructure. "It is being developed to link and share a child's health records from his / her birth," Sharma said.
Its purpose is to assist parents or guardians to enable their children to create child ABHA by linking their own ABHA to it. It will enable digital access to children's health records, monitor their development and create a longitudinal health history, Sharma said.
Child ABHA prevention is intended to provide better access to health services and to track immunity records, Sharma added. Once the children get the ID, if they are found to be deficient in any of the health development indicators, they will also be able to access the central and state health plans.
More than 22 million ABHA numbers - a unique ID that uses a 14-digit identification number that allows users to digitally share their health records with hospitals, clinics, insurance providers and others - have been created so far.
