5 new medical colleges to come up from 2023-24

Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences on Tuesday gave approval for the establishment of five new medical colleges in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, and new medical colleges in Eluru, Vijayanagaram, Rajamahendravaram Nandyala and Machilipatnam for the academic year 2023-24.
With this, academic activities will be started with 150 MBBS seats in each college. Principal seats in each college. Principals and superintendents have already been appointed for the respective colleges. Director of State Medical Education Dr. Raghavendra Rao said that district hospitals are being converted into teaching hospitals and these colleges will apply for National Medical Commission (NMC) affiliation.
The AP Cabinet has recently approved 3,530 posts for five new medical colleges at Nandyala, Machilipatnam, Eluru, Rajamahendravaram and Vizianagaram to start from the next academic year (2023-24). According to the NMC rules, 222 posts have been allotted to each medical college and 484 posts to the affiliated teaching hospital.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has decided 3,530 posts with 706 posts per medical college.
The government has planned 16 new medical colleges, one for each parliamentary constituency. As part of this, five new medical colleges will be started next year and 750 MBBS seats will be made available in addition to the existing seats.
16 new colleges are coming up in Machilipatnam Anakapalli, Vijayanagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Palakollu, Amalapuram, Markapuram, Penukonda, Madanapalli, Adoni, Nandyala, Pulivendula, Paderu, Eluru and Bapatla.
