2nd alert issued at Dowleswaram as flood flow rises to 14lakh cusecs

A second alert was raised at the Sir Arthur Cotton barrage at Dauleswaram near Rajamahendravaram as the flood flow in the Godavari rose to 14 lakh cusecs (flow of cubic feet per second) by Wednesday morning. The water level at the barrage has crossed 14.50 feet.
As heavy inflows continued from upstream, the barrage authorities lifted all 175 crest gates of Dauleshwaram barrage and released the water into sea.
Flood Conservator Kashi Visveswara Rao said that the inflows are likely to increase in the next two days and will slowly decrease from Friday evening. Floodwaters inundated gardens in Tallapudi, Peravali and Kovvur areas of East Godavari district.
The officials alerted the people of the low-lying areas and advised them to move to safer areas. The state government has alerted the governing bodies of Godavari, Kakinada, Alluri Sitaramaraj, Konaseema and Eluru districts.
The state government has also alerted the state disaster management authority to keep its forces ready to help the people in the affected areas. The Sabari is flowing in torrents, creating havoc in Chintoor Agency. An alert was announced in the villages of the islands.
Sabari floodwaters inundated some residences in Chinnuru Agency of Alluri Seetharamaraju district. Four mandals of ASR district, VR Puram, Etapaka, Chintoor, Koonavaram, Velerupadu, Kukkunur and Polavaram mandals of Eluru district were inundated.
