Opposition VP candidate and Congress leader Margaret Alva claimed on Twitter on Monday, July 25 that public sector telecom service provider MTNL diverted her calls, suspended her KYC details and sent a notice after she made a few phone calls her friends in BJP.
It is interesting that the Congress politician feigned ignorance despite Delhi Police and PIB issuing repeated warnings about the KYC fraud targeting MTNL users.
Although all the details are in the public domain, the Congress leader on July 25 took a swipe at the BJP government at the Center and tweeted, “After talking to some friends in BJP today, all calls are diverted to my mobile and I am unable to make or receive calls.
If you restore the phone, I promise I won't call any BJP, TMC or BJD MP tonight. She shared a screenshot of a message she claimed to have received from public sector telecom service provider MTNL seeking KYC details.
Congress leader Margaret Alva is reaching out to important members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) like Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai after opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha lost to NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu margin.
Meanwhile, following the Congress leader's fake claims, MTNL has given a clear enough reply that it will never ask for e-KYC on WhatsApp/SMS/call etc.
"Alert all GSM customers by sending messages to avoid such EKYC SMS/WhatsApp/calls, which may lead to some form of fraud, so you are requested to ignore such E-KYC messages," read the tweet posted by the public sector Telecom Service Provider.
