Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday urged states to encourage farmers as India's exports increase due to increase in paddy and wheat seed area.
Addressing the trition security conference in India, the minister asked the state governments to submit their pending food subsidy claims for the financial years 2019-2020 as soon as possible for quick settlement of old accounts.
Goyal told state governments that there is no shortage of funds with the center for settling old food subsidy claims but the delay was because states are not filling their claims with proper documents.
