The state government decorated the historic Undavalli Caves in Guntur district and the Konda Reddy Fort in Kurnool with the colors of the national flag to coincide with the Har Ghar Tiranga celebrations organized by the Center to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (75 years of India's independence). .

According to a statement, as part of a series of activities under the Har Ghar Tiranga programme, archeological monuments across the state were decorated with the Tricolour.

Undavalli Caves, an example of monolithic rock-cut architecture, is one of the best evidences of ancient Vishwakarma Sthapathis,” said Dr. Rajat Bhargava, Special Chief Secretary (Revenue, Tourism and Culture).

"Carved out of solid sandstone on the hillside, these caves, as tall as a four-storied building, date back to the 4th or 5th century and are a haven for history lovers," he said.

The Konda Reddy Fort dates back to the 12th century, when the city of Kurnool was used as a base for crossing the Tungabhadra River. The fort is named after Konda Reddy, the last ruler of Alampur who was imprisoned in the fort by the Nawab of Kurnool in the 17th century.
