In the modern India, women are reaching high peaks with higher number of achievements and accomplishments as compared to men of the society. Unfortunately even then they are living in an atmosphere of threat, terror and fear. Threat of molestation, fear of eve-teasing, and terror of being sexually exploited has dug deep within the hearts of every woman. These are some of the common social sins customary in India that has made life hell for women.
In the broad category, molestation, eve-teasing, and sexual harassment all are similar types of harassment that kills the inner soul of women. Just imagine your mother or sister experiencing molestation…see them, speak to them, and share with them, you’ll come to the worst impact it leaves on them. We have no words and expressions to narrate how they feel after such a violated act. We can’t even imagine the pain and suffering they go through…it’s just them who can feel the pain and live the tragedy of being molested. It is offend to her dignity and leaves long-lasting scars on her consciousness. The trauma caused is unbearable, unexplainable, and beyond the level of tolerance that alters the personality of a woman or even cause death. They are exploited both physically and emotionally. Physical scars may heal over a period of time but the emotional and psychological scars do not heal in the entire lifetime. It is also reported that molested victims undergo deep frustration, severe depression, fear of rejection, anxiety, and sexual abnormality.

Molestation is nothing but the sexual exploitation of a woman that definitely satisfies the sexual desire of men but kills the hope of living for women. Any kind of sexual abuse including fondling, mutual masturbation, sodomy, and forceful relationship is a form of molestation. The major causes of molestation in the country are rapid urbanization, loss of virtues and values, degradation of morality, exposure of children to media in terms of violent movies and indecent magazines. Even internet is a major cause of such an uncivilized act. Many even treat women as commodities to be used in truly alarming to report that just to have one short-lived moment of enjoyment and sexual pleasure men rob the integrity, dignity, and even virginity of women. Unfortunately, the fulfilment of sexual pleasure is received by men at the cost of someone’s sufferings.

Every women when entrapped in such a situation tries to find out a solution but many are just not able to escape. Its time to help those women escape and also allow them enjoy all their rights of living. There should be more public awareness amongst women to instill self-confidence, physical strength, and knowledge within them. There is an urgent need to pull them out of the molestation trap and give them a safer environment to live in. This will not help in the improvement of women status in the country but will also contribute to the socio-economic progress of India.
What causes Someone To Molest?
Focus on the cause. To do that, we must know the cause. What could possibly cause someone to suddenly molest a child? In general, sexual abusers act because they fit into one of four broad categories. They act because.
1. They are children or teenagers who are sexually curious or experimenting.
2. They have a medical or mental problem that needs treatment.
3. They are opportunists, who lack feelings for others and who have an antisocial personality disorder.
4. They have an ongoing sex drive directed toward girls.

A few guidelines to prevent molestation and they are just guidelines and not hard and fast rules!:
1. Generally speaking, shopping malls, streets and cinema halls are safe but it is possible to get caught in a crowd here too. If by chance you are caught in a rush of people (while entering or leaving a theatre for example), be alert.
2. If you go for a movie or any show, it’s best that the man accompanying you sits next to the man in the next seat. Most Indian couples do this naturally and no one thinks of it as unusual.
3. Do not share taxis or rickshaws with strangers. And definitely avoid getting into a cab or rick if there is another person next to the driver, his friend or relative. There have been many crimes committed in these type of situations.
4. Be alert while standing in lines – airport lines, railway station lines or in fact any line. The guy behind you could be a pervert (don’t be fooled if he is well-dressed). It is easy for a man to sidle up to you in a line so casually and so quickly that you will only know when the feeling up or breathing down your neck process is over.
5. While walking on the road always be aware of those behind you. It’s not just a pick-pocket that you have to watch out for, but a pervert who will try to brush against you.
