Department of Physical Education (SPMVV) of Sri Padmavati Mahila University (SPMVV) provides theoretical and practical training to female candidates seeking uniform services.
SPMVV wants to fill this gap as there is no such training center for women in the state. Although it started recently, it already has 30 students. It recruits interested women students from SPMVV as well as outside the campus.
SPMVV has identified some guest faculty from SV Defense Academy to take theoretical classes. The staff of Physical Education Department focused on the subject of practical training.
Theoretical classes are held after 5 pm and practical classes are held from 6 am to 8.30 am so as not to disturb the regular studies of the students.
Director of Physical Education Professor Sara Sarojini told that at the end of the 6-month training program, successful students will also be awarded PG Diploma certificates.
It is useful for those who want to join police or other military services. After Intermediate, students are eligible for constable posts and after graduation they can compete for SI posts or any other central uniform services.
Notifications for recruitment into various uniform services come at a regular interval for which many candidates compete. This program provides training to equip them to face the competition.
The training program is designed to complete any exam in this field. Professor Sara Sarojini said that the students were very keen and the training made them physically fit as well. The department also offers PG Diploma and Diploma courses in Yoga.
There is no age limit for women to join these courses and outsiders can also join. Apart from these, there are regular BPEd, MPEd and research programs in which women students join enthusiastically.
