Rajnath announces Tri-services joint theater orders soon

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday announced the setting up of tri-services joint theater commands to enhance coordination among the armed forces.

The Defense Minister said that India is fast moving from being the world's largest importer of defense equipment to being an exporter.

He was speaking at a function organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People's Forum here to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Indian Armed Forces.

Rajnath Singh said that we have decided to set up joint theater commands (in view of joint operations in Kargil in Operation Vijay).

Paying tributes to the Kargil martyrs, the Defense Minister said the nation will never forget their supreme sacrifice to protect the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty. It is the duty of society and people to give utmost respect to martyrs and their families.

Rajnath Singh said while referring to the defense production. India is the world's largest importer (of defense products). He pointed out that today, India is not the world's largest importer but is among the top 25 countries engaged in defense exports.

Rajnath Singh said that defense exports worth Rs.13, 000 crores have started in the country and we aim to increase it from Rs.35, 000 to 40,000 crores by 2025-26. Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale also addressed the gathering held at Gulshan Ground near Jammu University.

Rajnath Singh will hold a special meeting with the BJP leaders who have selected Trikuta Nagar as the party office to review the party's preparations for the assembly elections.
