Prepare estimates for road repairs officials of District Flood Rehabilitation told

District Flood Rehabilitation, Coordination Special Officer, Arun Kumar has been seized to prepare estimates and send proposals for road repairs. A contract agency has to be identified for these works and these works have been undertaken with the funds of the National Disaster Relief Fund.
He spoke at a press conference along with District Collector K Madhavi Latha on Monday. Arun Kumar said that 71,692 families in eight mandals and 1,578 families in seven Lanka villages were flooded.
The flood water reached a maximum of 21.7 feet in the Godavari on July 17 and gradually receded to 19.6 feet by Monday. He said that the families in the flooded areas have been moved to the rehabilitation centers.
Four control rooms will be set up and 1,578 families will be given Rs.2 thousand. 750 farms were damaged in 945 places. He said that 3,488 horticultural farmers have lost their crops of papaya, okra and banana. Ration was distributed to 976 families.
2,246 people have been provided food and accommodation in four rehabilitation centres. 47 medical camps have been set up. Collector Dr. K. Madhavi Lata said that due to the rains for two days, rain water has stagnated in Aryapuram and Hukumpet areas of Netaji Peta.
Water was pumped into the Awa channel with 450 HP motors. Chlorination and bleaching were done. Due to floods in Hukumpeta essential goods were distributed.
The Collector said that the rehabilitation centers will be operated for another 48 hours. Weak embankments and leakages were detected in 32 areas by patrolling teams and sandbags were installed.
She said that the details of the flood damage will be collected department wise in 10 days. To prevent electrical accidents, electricity supply has been temporarily stopped at 746 places.
Meanwhile, Kovvur Municipal Commissioner Ravikumar surrendered to the government due to negligence in the implementation of government priority programs and lack of sanitation management in Kovvur.
District Collector K Madhavi Latha has issued orders to this effect. Kovvuru RDO S. Mallibabu was given additional charge as Municipal Commissioner on Monday.
