Naidu accuses YSRC govt of closing down 8,000 schools for additional borrowings

By Our Special Correspondent

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday asked the State government to drop its “move to close down about 8,000 schools.”

Terming 'Amma Vodi' a bogus scheme and English medium education in government schools a drama, TDP supremo and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu accused Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of troubling students by closing schools in the State.

Addressing a public meeting at the TDP’s ‘Mini Mahanadu’ at Madanapalle, Mr. Naidu said parents and students should boycott the YSRCP leaders in their respective villages to “save the schools.”

Calling upon the youth not to spare the Chief Minister, who ruined their lives, Naidu said there was no job calendar under the YSRC regime.

Mr. Naidu took objection to the plethora of restrictions imposed on the Amma Vodi scheme, causing despair among the poor and downtrodden students and their mothers. Closure of schools would force children to walk long distances to go to school, he added.

The TDP leader alleged that Jagan has committed corruption of Rs.1.75 lakh crore in the last three years. Due to the state's debts reaching Rs.8 lakh crore, the debts of the people in the state are increasing, but Jagan's assets are increasing. It is increasing with money looted through sand, liquor and land grabs.

Referring to former MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case, Mr. Naidu alleged that the YSRCP government had lost fear and respect for the judiciary and the enforcement agencies.

Alleging that attempts are being made to usurp Rs 500 crore worth of lands in Madanapalle, Naidu appealed to the people to thwart the attempts of ruling YSRC leaders.

The TDP chief asked people to question the government's "false promises" of special status, calendar of jobs and installation of meters for agricultural connections. The YSRCP government watered down the welfare schemes introduced by the TDP government.

Alleging that cases were filed against 600 people and 180 were arrested for questioning Jagan on social media, Naidu asserted that all those errant officials will be punished in the future.

Earlier, Naidu reached Madanapalle by road from Bangalore and received a special response from the people of Madanapalle-Karnataka border. Senior TDP leaders from Chittoor, Nellore, Tirupati and Annamaiya districts participated in this programme.
