Minister Vanitha visits inundated areas

Home Minister Taneti Vanitha said that in view of the heavy flood water entering Godavari from the upper areas, all precautionary measures are being taken to prevent loss of life.

Minister Vanitha, District Collector K. Madhavi Latha, Rajanagaram MLA Jakkampudi Raja and others visited the flood victims in Maddur Lanka and Mulakallanka villages. Sitanagaram Mandal Bobbili went to Mulakallanka village by boat. He assured that the government will support the flood victims in all possible ways.

The minister asked them to follow the instructions of the authorities and move them to the rehabilitation centers. Earlier, Kovvuru mandal visited Maddurlanka flood area.

Minister Vanitha revealed that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced a compensation of Rs. 2000 for families.

According to the orders of District Collector Madhavi Latha, the shepherds and 60 sheep trapped in Burrilanka village of Kadiam Mandal were moved to safe areas on Thursday morning, said Krishna Rao, Joint Director of Fisheries Department.

A relief camp was organized for the flood victims at ZP High School in Thoredu village of Sitanagaram mandal.

Minister Vanitha tried to convince the people who did not want to leave their houses which were being flooded in some places. Locals said that it costs Rs 6,000 to carry the luggage and there is no one who cares even in the relief camps.
