What is Maritime Law Course?

The Maritime Law course teaches the candidates about laws that govern the sea and coastal areas of a country. The candidates who wish to acquire specialized knowledge about shipping law and related matters can take up this course.

Three -year full time Course:

University of Southampton’s (UK) School of Law has introduced a three-year full time LLB (Maritime Law) programme that will provide an excellent foundation for a career in international maritime law, commerce and related industries. It is a fully qualifying law degree and carries full exemption from the academic stage of legal education for the purposes of professional qualification.

Apart from the core subjects, students will be involved in comprehensive careers and employ ability programme together with further opportunities to negotiation, Street Law and meeting clients.

In the final year, students have to complete a supervised legal dissertation. Students can also take specialized maritime modules, selecting three optional modules from: Admiralty Law, Carriage of Goods by Sea, Commercial Conflicts of Law and International Litigation, Commercial Sales and a fourth final year module from the standard LLB options list.

The fee for the 2011 session is £10,400. Students who wish to enroll for the course can apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) – www.ucas.ac.uk and applications should be sent by June 30. More information can be had on www.southampton.ac.uk/law
