The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended "with immediate effect for one week," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed in a statement issued Friday afternoon. The decision comes in the wake of rising cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan and aims to prioritise the safety and well-being of all involved.

The development follows Thursday's (May 8) abandoned match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala, which was called off midway due to air raid alerts in nearby areas. The incident heightened security concerns-particularly among overseas players-and intensified calls for the BCCI to take swift action.
