Doctors at Guntur Government General Hospital on Wednesday successfully performed a rare surgery. Samabashivarao (64) of Thiruvoor village in Krishna district has been suffering from a serious illness for some time now.
Although I went to many hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, many hospitals refused to admit me. His family members consulted doctors at Guntur GGH and explained his condition and asked him to bring the patient to the hospital.
After performing several tests, doctors found severe aneurysm of the blood vessels and blood clots in the neck area, which can lead to a decrease in blood supply to the brain. The doctors kept him under observation for 20 days.
Cardiothoracic surgeons performed surgery on June 13 to remove all blood clots and restore blood supply to the brain. Hospital superintendent Dr Neelam Prabhavati said the patient was stable at present.
She congratulated the entire team for successfully performing this complex surgery and saving the patient's life. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dasari Kalyani, Head, Cardiothoracic Department, said that the first case was reported in New York in 2019 and the second case worldwide.
