Governor Tamilisai inspects Yanam affected by heavy floods

Puducherry Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said that there has been heavy damage in Yanam due to heavy floods.
On Tuesday, Governor Tamilisai, PWD Minister K Lakshminarayana, Civil Supplies Minister AK Sai Saravanan, MLA Gollapally Ashok, former Minister Malladi Krishna Rao visited the flood affected areas like Parampet, Ayyannanagar, Old Rajiv Nagar, GMC Balayogi colonies and got to know the people and their problems in Yanam.
Later, they inspected the flooded coconut trees, rice nurseries and horticultural crops in Yanam.
Many flood victims expressed their concern that the government should help them in this difficult time. She assured them that every family will be supported by the government and that there is no need to worry about floods.
She clarified that the compensation will be given as soon as the enumeration reports are received. Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy has already distributed 25 kg of rice to every family along with Rs. 5,000 cash assistance has been announced by the governor.
She said that these benefits are being provided only to 17 thousand ration card holders. During these floods, she directed the officials to pay full attention to the flood victims and support them.
Afterwards, the Governor held a review meeting with District Collector Vallavan, RO Aman Sharma, SP Balachandran and other officials at Yanam RO office. Malladi Krishna Rao explained to the Governor that the authorities had not taken any action regarding the floods.
He claimed that the authorities had failed miserably in assessing the impact of the floods. On the other hand, an altercation took place between the followers of former minister Malladi Krishna Rao and MLA Gollapally Ashok in the wake of Governor Yanam's visit.
Malladi Krishna Rao's representatives and MLA Ashok's followers raised slogans praising their leaders in front of the Governor. This led to a heated argument between the two parties. Police intervened and brought the situation under control.
