Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who arrived in Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, appears to be on a mission to "personally assess the wind-cutting effect of the BJP's strategy on him".
Not only the state BJP leadership, but also the central leaders have come down hard against the Chief Minister and his regime and have become relentless in their attack, describing the government as an 'incompetent and corrupt regime' as part of their "South-plan".
On the other hand, Jagan is under pressure not only because of the long-running CBI cases but also because of the alcohol and sand policies being followed by the government, and his blocking of the development of the capital region with nefarious efforts is useful for criticism.
The Chief Minister's visit led to speculation that "there is more to come" in light of these developments.
In this background, it is said that Jagan visited Delhi to resolve the political pulse of the BJP leadership against the ruling party of AP and the leadership of that party. The chief minister "formally" met the Prime Minister here on Monday to pursue his demands on release of pending funds, including relief and rehabilitation of Polavaram project evacuees, with the concerned ministries here.
The Chief Minister, who met the Prime Minister to 'uplift the interests of the state and do justice to Andhra Pradesh', reportedly mentioned his pending demands and sought the Prime Minister's intervention.
It said the ministries were referring the patient to the Prime Minister as they were "looking at the requests".
The main focus of the meeting was to provide relief and rehabilitation package to the residents of the Polavaram project, which has become a dispute between the state and the centre.
Official sources indicated that the Chief Minister sought the Prime Minister's intervention in collecting all the pending dues from Telangana to AP as well as implementation of all pending promises under the Partition Act.
