D Gukesh dethrones Arjun Erigaisi to become highest-ranked Indian in FIDE Rankings

World champion D Gukesh has continued his rise in chess as he went past compatriot Arjun Erigaisi to become the highest-ranked Indian in the latest FIDE Rankings on Thursday, January 23. Gukesh went past Erigaisi to take the 4th spot in the latest rankings as Erigaisi slipped to No.5. The 18-year-old achieved the feat when he got his second win in the Tata Steel Masters in Wijk Aan Zee in the Netherlands as he beat Vincent Keymer of Germany.
