Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced it will install a 58-foot statue of freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu – the man known for being instrumental in the creation of the separate Telugu-speaking state of Andhra Pradesh in 1953 — in the upcoming capital of Amaravati.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who participated in Sriramulu’s birth anniversary celebrations at Undavalli in Guntur district Sunday, said the statue would come up in honour of Sriramulu’s 58-day-long hunger strike for the creation of Andhra Pradesh.
