Women uplift will play ket role in nation’s development

Sri Padmavati Women's University (SPMVV) Vice Chancellor Professor D Jamuna said that women empowerment and gender equality play a vital role in the development of the country and SPMVV is always working towards this.

She was addressing a 15-day training program on handicrafts at Ramachandrapuram under the auspices of the Department of Bio Sciences & Sericulture and the University's Center for Women's Studies. Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi provided financial support for this programme.

Speaking on this occasion, the VC said that the university will provide its cooperation in any program for gender equality. Project Principal Investigator Professor P. Sujatha said that so far 272 women have been trained under this project.

They established businesses and earned income. Geetharani, Additional Director, Sericulture Department, DRDA Additional Project Director Dr. Prabhavati, Project Co-Investigator Prof. G Savitri, Dr. Neeraja, Dr. Shanti, Dr. Shwetapriya, Sashipriya were present.
