Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency TDP convener and former MP Konkalla Narayana Rao has lashed out at the state government for not paying rice purchase bills to farmers after seven months.
Speaking to media here on Wednesday, the TDP senior leader described the plight of paddy farmers as the government has not paid its rice purchase bills. He said a farmers' conference would be held in Machilipatnam on June 13 to discuss this.
He criticized the Andhra Pradesh government for failing to pay the bills months after the purchase, saying that the state of Telangana was depositing money in farmers' accounts within three days of purchase.
The former MP was angry that the government was not providing the minimum support price (MSP) to farmers in the state. He pointed out that farmers were not getting money even if they sold their produce and started cultivating depending on private moneylenders.
He said the TDP government had given highest priority to modernization and mechanization in cultivation. Many farmers in the state said they did not register their crop details in the e-crop and suffered losses.
