A Kuki NGO had informed the court that it had audio tapes shared by a whistle-blower of telephone conversations held by the Chief Minister ‘establishing complicity of the highest functionary’ in the violence in Manipur.

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered a Kuki organisation, represented by advocate Prashant Bhushan, to produce audio tapes to substantiate its claim that Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh was instrumental in inciting and organising violence in the north-eastern State which led to the loss of many lives.
