Within two months of assuming power, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann sacked the state health minister Vijay Singla on Tuesday on a corruption charge after receiving a complaint from a government officer over the minister demanding 1% commission in award of government tenders.

It has been less than two months since the Aam Asdmi Party (AAP) came into power. Mann had recommended registration of a corruption case against Singla.

The chief minister in a statement announced Singla's removal from the Cabinet which was sworn-in just two months ago after the Aam Aadmi Party stormed to power, riding on the agenda of corruption-free governance, and other poll promises.

Punjab Health Minister Vijay Singla was sacked from the state Cabinet Tuesday over graft and bribery charges, and was arrested shortly afterwards, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asserting his government has zero-tolerance to corruption.
