New safety measures at Suryalanka Beach

Vijay Krishnan Bapatla District Collector and SP Vakul Jindal on Wednesday visited Suryalanka beach in the wake of rising cases of drowning at Suryalanka beach.

He inspected the first aid centers set up on the beach and assured that steps would be taken to prevent cases of drowning at sea. He then visited the accident prone areas on Suryalanka Beach. The reasons for the drowning cases were discussed with the Marine Police and members of the Fishermen's Association.

SP Vakul Jindal said missing cases at sea are on the rise. He said a swimmer was deployed every 100 meters on the beach to prevent accidents at sea and police personnel were making announcements through the public address system.

Police on the beach handed out microphones, life jackets and radium sticker jackets to the swimmers. He assured that steps would be taken to ensure that tourists stay at Suryalanka Beach happily and return home safely. The SP promised to provide all the necessary equipment to protect the tourists going to sea.
