Monsoon causes heavy rains likely in next 4 days

Good rains lashed many parts of undivided West and East Godavari districts. It is likely to rain in most parts of the state in the next four days.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon on Thursday lashed most parts of Telangana and most of coastal Andhra Pradesh. Over the next 2-3 days, conditions are favorable for the monsoon to move further to more parts of Andhra Pradesh.

The northern coast of Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Similarly, thundershowers are likely in some parts of northern and southern coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next four days.

In the coastal Andhra districts, the highest rainfall of 9.6 cm was recorded at Koyyalagudem and 7.8 cm at Kukunur in West Godavari district. In Rayalaseema, Puttur received the highest rainfall of 3.3 cm and Satyavedu received 1.5 cm.

Mercury declined with heavy rains in many parts of the state. Maximum temperatures dropped to less than 400 Celsius. Nasankota in Satyasai district recorded a high of 38.70 degrees Celsius, while Araku recorded a low of 20.89 degrees Celsius, according to AP State Development Planning Society (APSDPD) real-time data.
