Lokesh starts a yearlong Padaytra on Gandhi Jayanti

By Our Special Correspondent

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and general secretary Nara Lokesh planned to revitalize and rejuvenate the party cadre by paving the way.

According to TDP sources, Lokesh is likely to go on a year-long pilgrimage from Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). Speaking informally to media persons on the occasion of Mahanadu, Lokesh said that the party was ready to undertake a padayatra or any other event as per the directives of the party leadership.

Citing this, some TDP leaders are of the view that the walkout will help Lokesh grow into a strong leader and strengthen the party at the grassroots level. Despite considering Lokesh next to Naeem in the party and playing a key role in party affairs, he has not undertaken any massive programs to reach out to the people.

Lokesh undertook a number of public interactions such as visiting flood-affected areas and touring various districts to carry out party activities and visiting villages in Mangalagiri constituency which failed to contest the 2019 elections. Therefore, a party leader said that Lokesh needs to carry out multi-party programs to prove himself as the future president of the TDP.

Recalling that Naidu had started the padayatra from Hindupuram on October 2, 2012, party sources said that Lokesh was also likely to start the padayatra in the same town on the same day.

Meanwhile, Naidu, who has already announced that TDP founder NT Rama Rao will travel to two districts every month to meet TDP leaders and activists as part of year-round Jayanti celebrations, is expected to take a bus tour. All over the state, those communities added after Lokesh started his Yatra .

Speaking to party leaders in a teleconference, Naidu said the YSRCP had become a "lost case" due to Jagan Mohan Reddy's three years of misrule. Whenever elections are held; the state sees an arbitrary poll. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the people of the state were outraged over the brutal policies being followed by the government.

The TDP chief said he had never seen a government like the YSRCP, which had suffered a severe setback in three years. Jagan's incompetent, anarchic rule completely discredited the YSRCP. "Its days are over now," he noted.

Naidu directed the party leaders to conduct a 'badude badudu' campaign everywhere in the state to highlight the failures of the YSRCP government.

The party membership registration process should also be expedited. Groupism will not be tolerated at any level in the party. Village leaders were advised to be vigilant from time to time on the removal of names from the voters list.
