Health Minister Rajini ploughs to launch Kharif Cultivation

In Nandikonda village in Nadendla mandal of Palnadu district, Medical and Health Minister Viddala Rajini paid homage to Ganesh and wished him a good harvest. The kharif season began with plowing and sowing of paddy.

On the full moon day on Wednesday, the farmers started preparing for the kharif season, while others prepared for the harvest. Farmers will cultivate paddy in the Krishna Delta region of Tenali division.

The government has already released water to the Krishna River Head Regulator at Undavalli in Guntur district. Irrigation officials are currently releasing 40 cusecs of water per day for irrigation. The government has taken steps to supply the required seeds, fertilizers and pesticides to the farmers through the Rythu Barosa Centers.

In addition the government has already issued the YSR Farmer Assurance for farmers to purchase seeds. Rice seeds are likely to germinate in two weeks.

Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar in Palnadu and Prakasam districts are likely to get water to Kharif due to availability of water within the right canal strategic area. Farmers will cultivate paddy in 7.5 lakh acres. District Collectors have already directed the bankers to grant crop loans to farmers and tenant farmers.

Farmers in Palnadu and Guntur districts also engaged in chili and cotton cultivation preparations. The area under chili cultivation is expected to increase this year due to the price of chilies in the market.
